Leeds 0 PSV 1

My lasting impression was how well PSV finished the game and how we were
on the ropes for most of the 2nd half. The Orangemen had over 60% of the
ball.

Many moons ago I left Elland Road after the same Dutch team had
outclassed us with Luc Nilis in sublime form. We lost 5-3 that day, our
hard work had clawed us back to 3-3 after being 3-1 down.

The gap has closed somewhat since then. The same team progressed though.

Last night our expectations were somewhat higher.

At half time yesterday the much maligned PSV coach , Gerek Ferrets of
BelgiumenborgZoo, needed to only utter a few simple instructions to his
team. "Play 2 touch football"

Leeds had chased and harried and forced PSV back in the first half. With
a modicum of composure we would have taken a deserved lead. Van Bummer
was playing so deep he had disappeared up his own keeper's @rse.

After the break PSV's crisp 2 touch approach negated Leeds scampering,
fire fighting tactics and like master matadors they side-stepped Leeds'
bullish, headless chicken style. Leeds were chasing orange shadows.

Kewell was shattered after an hour. It was so obvious he was knackered.

Batty and Keane must have smiled when Thinngy of Whatsit bravely nodded
the winner in. I heard the first shout of "O'Leary Out !" - Was it from
Eddie Gray ?

Leeds are not a great side, neither are PSV but their 2nd half tactics
blew Leeds away and they deservedly went through.

Good luck to Eindhoven. I was pleased Kezman looked a bit better than
last week cos the boy is a talent and when he played against us for
Partizan I thought - "this kid looks fcking brilliant"

Scores/

Martyn - 7 - 2 excellent saves. Unlucky for the goal.

Mills 6 Made a few runs forward but Kelly is the last man you want
in front of you. Lost his man for their goal.
Harte 4 Beaten for pace at will
Rio/Matteo 8 each. Superb display.

Kelly 5 Simply not a midfielder. Astonishing that he kept Batts out
of the team
Bakke/Bowyer 5 Capitulated 2nd half
Kewell 5 Too patchy, not fit, not arsed.

Smith 7 Shook the PSV defence up
Viduka 6 Did some nice stuff when we were on top. Very poor 2nd half.

Subs/ Seven brass monkeys.

O'leary 1 - once again blamed his players, once again used no subs. Has
the tw@t ever got a Plan B ?

Ferret 10 - observed the game, changed the tactics and won.

We'll score again...dont know where, dont know when....
